A group of illnesses known as cerebral palsy (CP) affects muscle movement and coordination. Cerebral palsy frequently also impairs hearing, sensation, and vision. "Cerebral" refers to something having to do with the brain. Palsy refers to weakness or issues with movement in the body. The most frequent cause of motor disabilities in children is cerebral palsy. From mild to severe, cerebral palsy symptoms can vary from person to person. Some cerebral palsy sufferers might find it challenging to sit and walk. Other cerebral palsy sufferers may struggle to grasp objects. As a child matures and acquires motor skills, the condition's effects may become more or less obvious or restrictive. Additionally, they differ according to the region of the brain that was impacted. Delays in reaching motor milestones like rolling over, sitting up by themselves, or crawling, difficulty walking, variations in muscle tone like being too floppy or too stiff, spasticity, or stiff muscles and exaggerated reflexes, ataxia, or a lack of muscle coordination, tremors or uncontrollable movements, delays in speech development and difficulty speaking, excessive drooling and swallowing issues, favoring one side, are some of the more prevalent symptoms. Most children with cerebral palsy have it from birth, but some may not exhibit symptoms for months or even years.
